How to install Subversion and Java

Install Subversion and Java


yum -y install java-1.6.0-openjdk java-1.6.0-openjdk-devel
yum -y install subversion

Install Ant


cd /opt
wget http://mirrors.kahuki.com/apache/ant/binaries/apache-ant-1.8.1-bin.tar.bz2
tar jxvf apache-ant-1.8.1-bin.tar.bz2
mv apache-ant-1.8.1 ant
ln -s /opt/ant/bin/ant /usr/bin/ant

Result: /opt/ant

Export some variables and add to bashrc:


export ANT_HOME=/opt/ant
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java
export PATH=$PATH:/opt/ant/bin
export CLASSPATH=.:$JAVA_HOME/lib/classes.zip

echo 'export ANT_HOME=/opt/ant' >> /etc/bashrc
echo 'export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java' >> /etc/bashrc
echo 'export PATH=$PATH:/opt/ant/bin' >> /etc/bashrc
echo 'export CLASSPATH=.:$JAVA_HOME/lib/classes.zip' >> /etc/bashrc

Install Red5:


cd /opt
svn co http://red5.googlecode.com/svn/java/server/trunk red5
cd red5
ant prepare
ant dist

Create an init script


By default you have to use red5?s inherent scripts to start/stop, which can be a bit annoying. Create a file called /etc/init.d/red5 and past int he following:

*Note that WordPress has a strange way of outputting double quotes, so make sure you address those in the script!
Now, chmod 755 /etc/init.d/red5 and run:
chkconfig red5 on

This will run Red5 on startup. With the init script, you can now start, stop, and restart red5 as needed, ex:
service red5 restart

red5 should now run port 5080 and rtmp service on port 1935. You may need to open these ports in your server’s firewall.

Test:


http://hostname:5080/demos/port_tester.swf

How to install subversion client on Linux server?

Svn(subversion) is used to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. Its goal is to be a mostly-compatible successor to the widely used Concurrent Versions System (CVS).

It is very easy to install subversion client on linux OS using yum. You can us following command to install subversion client.

root@server [~]# yum install subversion

while installing subversion if you are getting following error  then it seem sot be perl-URI package is not installed on your server so you will have to install first before installing subversion client.

Please follow the following steps to install perl-URI package

You’ll login via SSH as root and run this command:
root@server [~]# yum install subversion

and then you may get this error:
Error: Missing Dependency: perl(URI) >= 1.17 is needed by package subversion

Here’s what you do next (copy/paste):

root@server [~]# wget ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.fedoraproject.org/
fedora/linux/releases/7/Everything/i386/os/Fedora/
perl-URI-1.35-3.noarch.rpm 

root@server [~]# rpm -i perl-URI-1.35-3.noarch.rpm

root@server [~]# yum install subversion

Installed: subversion.x86_64 0:1.4.2-4.el5 subversion.i386 0:1.4.2-4.el5

Dependency Installed: neon.x86_64 0:0.25.5-10.el5 neon.i386 0:0.25.5-10.el5

Complete! 

That’s it subversion client is successfully installed on your server you can check it using following command.
root@server [~]#svn --version
svn, version 1.1.4 (r13838)
compiled Aug 21 2005, 20:56:55

Copyright (C) 2000-2004 CollabNet.
Subversion is open source software, see http://subversion.tigris.org/
This product includes software developed by CollabNet (http://www.Collab.Net/).

The following repository access (RA) modules are available:

* ra_dav : Module for accessing a repository via WebDAV (DeltaV) protocol.
- handles 'http' schema
- handles 'https' schema
* ra_local : Module for accessing a repository on local disk.
- handles 'file' schema
* ra_svn : Module for accessing a repository using the svn network protocol.
- handles 'svn' schema

How to install Subversion on a shared Server

Installation Instructions

These instructions assume basic proficiency with the Unix command line. Note that the goal is to install the SVN client, plan on hosting your repositories somewhere else.

Connect to your account with ssh and create a working directory, mine’s called _src:

cd
mkdir _src
cd _src

get http://subversion.tigris.org/downloads/subversion-1.4.6.tar.gz
wget http://subversion.tigris.org/downloads/subversion-deps-1.4.6.tar.gz

tar -xzvf subversion-1.4.6.tar.gz
tar -xzvf subversion-deps-1.4.6.tar.gz
cd subversion-1.4.6

One step, maybe (32-bit?)

At this point, depending on your server configuration, you might be able to install with the following two commands:

./configure –prefix=$HOME –without-berkeley-db \
–with-ssl –with-editor=/usr/bin/vim \
–without-apxs –without-apache
make && make install
